What this checks

  • Image size
  • Product framing
  • Quality risk
Marketplace product images are easier to trust when the product is centered, sharp, and not crowded by text.

Small images lose detail

If your Etsy banner looks blurry, the source image may be too small for the wide banner area or too detailed to stay sharp after resizing. Etsy listing images and search thumbnails can blur for the same reason when the product is cropped too tightly or exported too small. Marketplace sellers comparing store images may also find the Shopify product image size guide useful.

Thumbnails need clear framing

A product that fills too little of the frame can feel weak in Etsy search results. A product that touches the edges can feel cramped after thumbnail cropping, especially on mobile. The checker focuses on listing-image thumbnail clarity; banners still need a high-resolution, wide source image.

Before you upload

Use a high-resolution image with the product centered and enough margin. Keep the first image's framing consistent with how you want it to appear in Etsy thumbnails. The Etsy listing image checker can quickly flag size, format, and thumbnail framing risks.
